For Carriers & Owner-Operators

When the dock holds you or the load dies, put a number on it.

Detention and a Truck Order Not Used are real money, and "we do not pay that" only works on carriers who do not do the math. Enter the facts and get the figure to put on the invoice. Runs on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Detention

Most contracts give free time, then pay an hourly detention rate after it. Use the terms on your rate con.

Truck Order Not Used (TONU)

What it cost you when the load cancelled after you committed — the deadhead you ran, plus the TONU fee you are owed.

How it works: Detention owed = max(0, hours held − free hours) × rate × stops. Deadhead cost = miles × your cost per mile — the real money you are out if the TONU is not paid. Total to recover = detention owed + the TONU fee. Take these numbers to the broker in writing. Nothing you enter leaves your device.

Stop signing rate cons that are silent on this.

Run any rate con through the free checker — it flags missing detention and TONU terms before you sign, and drafts the ask to add them.
